The Sylvan Hills High School Football Program has received a $5,000 grant from Carolina Panthers Charities through the Panthers Legends High School Coaching Grant, a program supported by the NFL to uplift high school athletics and honor former Panthers players who continue to serve as coaches.
Sylvan Hills Bears Assistant Coach Jarius Wright applied for the grant. He is eligible as a former Carolina Panthers wide receiver. Wright is a native of Warren, Arkansas, where he excelled in multiple sports before earning All-SEC first-team honors as a Razorback in 2011. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft and played six seasons before joining the Carolina Panthers in 2018 and 2019.
“I’m very grateful and blessed to be in the position to receive this grant,” said Coach Wright. “I know the kids at Sylvan Hills deserve it and will make the most of it. Thanks to the Panthers, and I’m happy to be a part of this program. Go Bears.”
Each year, four grants are awarded to support football programs where these Legends are making an impact. The funds can be used to enhance training, equipment, facilities, or other needs identified by the program. For Sylvan Hills, the grant will be used for weight room and practice equipment.
